HereNow: Rutgers 250

Saturday, January 16, 2016 - Sunday, July 3, 2016
Voorhees Gallery

Make history! Submit your photographs of Rutgers today to the Zimmerli’s microsite HereNow: Rutgers 250. The project includes a website, exhibition, and book capturing life at Rutgers during the academic year of its 250th anniversary. Rather than focus on Rutgers’ history, the project will capture education and campus life in the early 21st century at a major public university. Rutgers’ students, faculty, staff, alumni, and visitors to New Brunswick, Newark, and Camden campuses may contribute photographs through the project website, which launched November 10, 2015. Images received by early January will be printed and hung for the opening of the exhibition on January 19, 2016. Thereafter, submitted images will be printed and installed in the museum at regular intervals, allowing the online and onsite exhibition to grow throughout the spring.

Following the close of the show, the 250 most interesting and compelling images were published in a book with essays by distinguished authors and critics from Rutgers and beyond. The publication documents Rutgers, here and now, comprising a historical record of life at Rutgers at its 250th birthday.

The exhibition is made possible by the Estate of Ralph Voorhees, PNC Bank, and donors to the Zimmerli’s Major Exhibition Fund: James and Kathrin Bergin, Alvin and Joyce Glasgold, Charles and Caryl Sills, Voorhees Family Endowment, and the Jerome A. Yavitz Charitable Foundation, Inc –Stephen Cypen, President. Related public programs are supported by the Friends of the Zimmerli Endowment Fund and the book is supported by the Class of 1937 Publications Endowment Fund.
